Wow…August already. Again time to bring The Sea Ranch sales for the year current. (28) homes (including (4) pending) have been sold. The average list price was $783,079 and the average sale price was $770,771. Average Days on Market was (132). Lot sales to date have not changed for a couple of months. We are still at (4) sold at an average sale price of $246,125 and a whopping average Day on Market of (527). In my opinion, the current lot prices have to come way down in order to attract any interest. The bright side for buyers, (70) homes are currently on the market and I think there are some very good values to be had. More buyers have been showing up and much more interest has been generated. It is a great time to buy a house and retire. One can revisit 2002,3,4 and pretty much see the same price structure as today. Wouldn’t we have liked to have those years to do over. Well, here’s our chance.

So much for numbers and Real Estate. Let’s see what is happening in the community.

The biggest community event of the year is the Art in the Redwoods Festival. If you attend everything you will have to start Aug. 19, Thursday evening and finish up on Sunday. For more detailed information concerning Art in the Redwoods please click on these links:

The Art in the Redwoods Festival returns to Gualala Arts Center for the 49th annual event. What began among the redwoods on Gualala ridge in 1961 has grown to a weekend attraction for thousands. This popular weekend event features art from near and far along with free entertainment and artists booths.

If you plan to visit the Sea Ranch over Labor Day you very well may wish to sign up for the self-guided artist’s studio tour. Great way to see beautiful country and meet with many talented artists. For the eighteenth year, the North Coast Artists' Guild has organized the Annual Studio Discovery Tour for Labor Day weekend and the following weekend.

Coastal artists once again open their private studios providing visitors with the chance to meet the artist in person, to see demonstrations, to ask questions and to purchase original and unique works of art. Artwork includes paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, glass art, textiles, photography, iron work, murals and much, much more. This free self-guided tour takes you at your own leisurely pace along the beautiful serene coastline from Sea Ranch to Irish Beach.

The month of August brings to the Sea Ranch Lodge Front Gallery a new and exciting exhibit. Stop by the Lodge on your way up, have a look, have a beverage and freshen up all with a view of the roiling Pacific Ocean. Doesn’t get better.

Next month we will do a “fly-in” piece that might be very informational to those of you out there that would love to fly up for the weekend. A dream of most pilots is to have a second home right next to an airport. We have the facility….need you and your airplane to complete the equation.
